Uttar Pradesh is the most polluted state in India, with 15 of its cities among 30 cities with the highest levels of toxic air in the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modiâ€™s constituency Varanasi turned out to be the worst polluted city of UP. Countrywide, it came sixth.
Other towns and cities in UP on the list are Hapur, Bareilly, Firozabad, Kanpur, Agra, NOIDA, Allahabad, and Mathura where PM10 levels were way above permissible limits.
Kerala is the least polluted state in the country, India. In all the 14 districts of the state, NAAQ(National Ambient Air Quality Standards) standards are complied with and had lower concentrations of PM10. However, all the cities surpassed the PM10 standards prescribed by WHO.
